About Greta

I believe it is our birthright to feel safe and at peace in our bodies. I am passionate about holding space for individuals to reconnect and create healing relationships with their bodies. I was introduced to trauma-informed yoga when I moved to Portland in 2013 to intern with a yoga service nonprofit. This was my first exposure to a practice that allowed for choices and true embodiment in a movement practice. I began volunteer teaching at various treatment centers in Portland and found a passion for sharing yoga with youth. I went on to complete my yoga teacher training in Bali in 2016 followed by a year living abroad.

When I returned to the states in 2017 I began my TCTSY facilitation training with the Trauma Center. Since becoming a TCTSY facilitator, I have offered this practice to youth in treatment centers, within the community, and with veterans as a part of a research study. I continue to evolve as a facilitator as I reflect on the ways systems of oppression cause trauma in the body. I am dedicated to making my offerings accessible, intersectional, and affordable. Outside of facilitating I enjoy nannying, being in nature, making music, and spending time with my wife and our pets.

About TCTSY

Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga is a body-based adjunctive treatment for Complex Trauma and Treatment-Resistant PTSD. Developed at the Center for Trauma and Embodiment, TCTSY is empirically supported and is considered an evidence-based practice by The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA).

TCTSY is founded in trauma theory, attachment theory and neuroscience with yoga asana forms included in the practice. This practice invites participants to be present in their bodies while noticing sensation and breath. There are opportunities for making choices in every form, as well as space to explore movement and breathing. TCTSY is grounded in invitation, choice and empowerment, with each participant in full control of what they do with their body on their mat.

Here's what you can expect from a TCTSY session:

* No physical assists or adjustments from the facilitator, I stay on my mat and practice during the session

* Invitational language rather than command-based language, I will never tell you what to do with your body

* Modifications and choices for forms as well as space to explore forms in different ways

* A non-judgemental and safe environment

* Opportunity to experience embodiment, notice your breath, and rest

NOTE: TCTSY is not a replacement for mental health counseling. During sessions there will be no verbal processing of traumatic memories or experiences. This practice is strictly body-based and is often most effective when used as an adjunctive treatment for CPTSD and Complex Trauma. It is recommended that folks doing TCTSY have support person available to verbally process traumatic memories.
